| In response to recent in-depth studies detailing the dangerous impact of diesel smoke on both our personal health and that of our environment, The Clean Air Task Force www.catf.us has put together several comprehensive reports. A current publication titled An Analysis of Diesel Air Pollution and Public Health in America explains that "Diesel engine exhaust contains a number of a potent carcinogens–particulate matter (largely elemental and organic carbon soot) coated in gaseous organic substances such as formaldehyde and PAH (a group of super-toxic gases that attach themselves to particles)." The multitude of medical studies warning us of the serious health threats posed by diesel exhaust make it vitally important that work environments where employees are exposed to this danger seriously consider taking steps to minimize the amount of exposure. For the risk in your state or county see Clean Air Task Force's interactive web site. |
